Traveling...and more Traveling

The Lassiters have been traveling for the holidays. We just got home in time for New Years Eve and I couldn't be more excited to be home for some quiet time.

We went to Evansville for Christmas to spend it with Brian's family. We left Tuesday after work. What should have been the normal 4 hour drive turned into a 7 hour trip ending in Plainfield in a hotel. Yep it took 7 hours from Noblesville to Plainfied, for those of you not aware...that should only take about an 1.5 hours....the ice made us have a small little traffic jam on I-70 for 5 hours. We had wendy in the car, and no food or bathrooms. haha little to say we used our imagination. The next morning we did make it to Evansville and had a great time with the family for Christmas. We headed home on Friday.

After Sara Glenn and I worked a wedding on Saturday (a beautiful one at that) Brian and I headed to Cinci to meet his family for a mini vacation. There were 19 of us at the Great Wolf Lodge with an indoor water park. The kids loved it. Then we moved to another hotel and then went to Perfect North for everyone to go snow tubing. We got back tonight and Brian and I are pooped.

We are going to be home for a while. Thank goodness. Now it is back to the real world.

My First Blog Award....I am so honored

I am so excited....my very first blog award. Erin Waldner (my older sister I never had...) made me such a proud new blogger. These are the rules:

List six things that make you happy. Pass the award along to six more bloggers.: Do not give the typical answers and go for the less obvious, as you all know that family, friends, God, etc would be on the list:

After I fill out the six questions I pass it on.... so the Kreativ Blog Awards goes to...drum roll please...Jordan Huffman, Sara Glenn, Jen Waldron...the only problem is that I dont know very many bloggers so I am only passing it on to 3....sorry i am dork.

6 things that make me happy….
This isn’t that easy to write. Lots of things make me happy but when you have to actually put it down it is harder than I thought.

1. A wet nose but a warm heart…
Many of you know, I have a mild obsession with my dog, Wendy. She is one of the best things that ever happened to me. She loves me so much and I love her. When I come home and she tap dances on the floor and wags her tail so crazy I cant help but to melt. She has been our baby for over 5 years and I cant imagine my life without her. She has such strong emotions just like her mommy. When I cry, she lays her head on my lap, when I get out the suitcases to go somewhere she follows me everywhere….really I should stop talking about her now…hahaha

2. El Camino…sad but true
Mexican food has always had a soft spot with me. There really isn’t anything better than convincing my husband to go eat the mino. We have gotten a lot of friends hooked on it! It is the simple things in life isn’t it…. Nothing better….. YUM!

3. My friends
I know what you are thinking. Lame… everyone has friends. But I have special friends. I truly believe I have some of the best friends a girl could ask for. Most of the friends I hang out with on a routine basis are the same friends I hung out with when I was 10….not too many people go through high school, college and still in their adult life stay in touch with those people. Even my new friends I have made through work, etc say to me… “no wonder you are friends with those people still…they are so nice” So in all seriousness….my friends make me so happy.

4. Weddings…yep I still buy bridal magzines!
I have this odd love for weddings, reading about them, going to them, assisting with them. I am probably the only person I know that still buys bridal magazines and I got married 3 years ago. Everything is so beautiful the flowers, the dress, the colors, the music….love it. Anytime I hear someone is getting engaged I get so excited and want to hear every detail.

5. Bad Television…I cant help myself
I love bad television. It makes me so happy to plop down on the couch after a long day and watch some dvr! Bad Television is my favorite…Gossip Girl, Greys, America’s Next Top Model, American Idol, Private Practice, the list goes on! All of it. For some reason I like to watch stuff that would never happen to me. I live vicariously through my television. I know…I am pathetic.

6. To do lists….

Yep, love them. I use them at work, at home, when I pack, before a party…
There is something about making a list, being slightly overwhelmed and then crossing them off one by one. It gives me such a since of accomplishment that it makes me grin from ear to ear!

Christmas in Orlando

Brian and I went to Orlando for a long weekend. His company Christmas party (I know its insane) was in orlando at the Gaylord Palms Hotel. It was so amazing. We arrived Friday evening and all went to dinner at this yummy steak house. Then on saturday we just walked around the hotel, ate, played miniature golf (not putt putt this was extreme miniture golf with sand traps and they were about 40 yards long, but you could only use a putter) it was a relaxing day.
That night was the party....and that it was. Cocktail hour with women on stilts, dinner with a jester and a juggler and then after our meal and the presentation we had our own CIRQUE DU SOLEIL show. It was a bit extreme, but amazing.

Sunday we had our Christmas present to each other. We extended our stay and moved hotels to the Disney Dolphin Resort and went to Epcot all day. I as a kid in a candy shop. Brian promised me a really long time ago that we would go to Disney before we had kids and I thought it would never happen. But it did. It was one of the best Christmas presents ever. Disney was all decorated for Christmas...it was beautiful.

We had a great time...now back to the real world.

Ornaments for all!!!

Well another successful ornament exchange. This was the fifth annual ornament exchange with my girlfriends. Sara (lehman)Glenn does a great job every year of getting us all together! We all bring a wrapped ornament and leave with a different one. I got a beautiful red ball for my tree, it was elizabeth's. Lindsay got stuck with my cow ornament.....hahaha but she loved it.

As always we have a hilarious time.....and learn some things.

This time we laughed about smoking around oxygen tanks until tracy cried, we learned that you have to tuck your hair behind your ears and not smile in the new drivers licences pictures, Sara baked us all press cookies, and we tried to convince all our friends to start blogs!

Cant wait until next years!!!

Welcome to Brown Town...

Well, the punk rocker in me failed. No more purple hair for me. On to brown town. Well, the brown that is on top of the purple still allows a bit of it to show through. Pretty sad that all I have to write about is the color of my hair!

My work has been pretty weird lately with all the talk of the recession and the residential housing market in the pooper. So, I told my workers that I dyed my hair purple to lighten up the mood in the office. I think it worked for like a day.

Now who has SCARY hair?

That’s right….I do. So many of you know that I absolutely love my hair stylist Lindsey. She is the greatest. Not only does she do a great job on my hair, we have a lot of things in common and we get along great. She also cuts Sara Glenn’s hair, Elizabeth’s Hair, Barbie’s Hair, Laura’s Hair and so on….

Well on Tuesday at my regular appointment I decided to do something a bit different. I decided to dye the underneath portion of my hair a dark brown to give it a little spark. There are so many colors of brown….you would know if you have ever painted a room brown before that there are red browns, pink browns, purple browns, etc. I knew that I didn’t want it to be red at all so I chose a trendy dark brown that had a purple tint to it….well somewhere along the lines the brown didn’t happen…ONLY THE PURPLE. This is not a reflection on my hair stylist in anyway….just my hair didn’t take the color as planned :)

So right now I am rocking purple hair. I decided to let it settle for a couple days before I decide whether or not to have it changed. Lindsey loves it, my neighbor loves it, Brian is so so…and I am undecided. I could just rock it and be trendy and cool but I am not really trendy or cool so I am just a weirdo with purple hair. I purposely didn’t wear black today to work so that my co-workers didn’t think I went goth on them. Enjoy the pics…

New Blog to Stalk

So this is my first blog entry ever. Too all of my friends who are blog stalkers I hope you stalk mine too! I promise that I will give it the dedication it deserves. I think it will also make me more interesting considering I feel like I do nothing. I am sure the small things that Brian and I do on a regular basis will be future blog postings.

To all of you far away, I am so glad there is a way for me to stay in touch.
Lots of love!
The new blogger :)
